Funeral Flowers Arrangements and Delivery

Flowers are often used to celebrate joyous and happy occasions, but they can also be a way to express sympathy, comfort, and peace during times of sorrow. Sending a standing floral spray or plant to the funeral home to be displayed during the services, is a thoughtful way to demonstrate your bereavement and support for the family. Flowers can also be sent to the family’s home, as a reminder of the deceased even after the funeral has taken place. Just remember, it’s never too late to reach out, and send a family a reminder of the loved one they lost. One of the nicest things to do is send flowers a month after someone’s loss to remind them you are still thinking of them.

Sympathy flowers have long been considered the traditional way to pay tribute to the deceased. They can be sent as a representation of growth and new life, to add beauty to a dreary time and help lift spirits, or to communicate when words are difficult to find.

Choosing an arrangement to send doesn’t need to add any additional stress to an already mournful time, so we created a list of a few tips on how to select the appropriate arrangement.

Arrangement Types of Funeral Flowers

Traditional funeral flower arrangements consist of wreaths, sprays, casket sprays, and flower arrangements, and plants. Wreaths are typically sent by family members and are circular in nature to represent eternal life. Sprays are arrangements that may be sent by friends or family and only allow viewing from one side. Sprays are typically on stands to be placed near the casket. Casket sprays are placed on top of the casket and are typically organized by immediate family members. Floral arrangements are any combination of cut flowers in a basket, vase or other containers. Plants are potted or in baskets and offer a long life and remembrance. Both arrangements and plants may be sent by friends, coworkers, or others.

Sympathy Cards with your Funeral Flowers

Sympathy card messages are given to the family from the funeral director upon their arrival. It can be very difficult to express your sympathy at this time, so here are a few suggestions:

  • May you take comfort in knowing there is one more angel above us
  • May your loving memories ease your mind during this difficult time
  • Healing wishes for you and your family
  • Our Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family
  • May you all find comfort and strength in the warmth and caring of friends and family
Funeral Flowers: When, What, Colors and Styles

Flowers are just as appropriate at cremation services as they are at burial services. Funeral arrangements typically have larger flowers to create dramatic and stunning displays. These types of arrangements may include lilies, roses, snap dragons and gladioli. Smaller scale flowers are most often used for arrangements that will be sent directly to the home.

Funeral arrangements don’t need to be subtle or monotone. This is a time to celebrate the joy and remembered of a life well lived, so adding bright, joyful colors is appropriate. Helping someone deal with a loss of a loved one is never easy, Little House of Flowers is here to help you pick out the perfect expression of sympathy, give us a call to today with any questions you may have.
